I am finally getting to posting the pictures from the Settlement Home Quinceanera Miss Litvin, my sister Emily and I helped with. When we got to the salon at about 10:30am to help the girls prep before the festivities we found that they already had a makeup artist on hand. Since makeup was taken care of I decided to snap a few glamour shots which I plan on sending the girls sometime this week. Who doesn't love getting all dolled up and having their picture taken?! We then went to the actual Settlement Home to help set up with decorations and food preparation. The girls were then presented in true
Quinceanera style by people close to them. Each girl was given a tiara and a bouquet of roses along with a roaring round of applause which I think made them a bit nervous- but in a good way. Afterwards a mariachi band serenaded everyone while we enjoyed a fajita lunch and cake. I was surprised by how sweet and considerate the girls were considering their situations. Some even seemed a bit immature for their age which is really the complete opposite of what I was expecting. Miss Litvin and I spoke with the events director and are planning another pampering party for sometime over the summer -but this time it will be just for fun! It was so nice to just hang out and get to know these lovely young ladies while indulging in our girliness. We also discovered that most of their funding comes from the government but they make a couple hundred thousand buckaroos via the big
Settlement Garage Sale every year which will be November 4-6. Be sure to check it out if you haven't for unique finds at super duper cheap prices and know that your money is going to girls that not only need it but deserve it!
